Rangers designated 1B Carlos Pena for assignment. In turn, the Rangers have activated Geovany Soto from the disabled list while calling up J.P. Arencibia, who is expected to see most of the playing time at first base. Pena hit just .136 (8-for-59) with one home run and 11 strikeouts over 18 games with the Rangers.
