Qualls (forearm) threw a simulated game Saturday and is expected to begin a rehab assignment in the next couple days, Nick Groke of The Denver Post reports.

Back with the team as of Saturday, the veteran reliever faced teammates Stephen Cardullo, Christhian Adames, and Alexi Amarista in the outing. Manager Bud Black liked what he saw out of Qualls, commenting that he "looks as though his stuff was Chad Qualls-like. Good sinker, hard slider and a change." If Black's read is correct, it seems like the right-hander could be back with the Colorado bullpen as soon as Friday as long as his impending rehab assignment goes without a hitch.
