Phillies signed OF Dave Sappelt to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training. Sappelt appeared in 31 games for the Cubs in 2013, slashing .269/.280/.549 with no homers, four RBI and three stolen bases in 75 at-bats. The 26-year-old is a decent defender, so he'll be usable in a pinch if Philly's outfield is wrecked by injuries in 2014.
