Phillies recalled C Koyie Hill from Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Hill will take the place of Carlos Ruiz on the active roster, and will serve as the team's primary backup while Ruiz battles concussion-like symptoms. The veteran backstop was hitting .240/.341/.373 with three homers and 17 RBI in 45 games at Lehigh Valley.
