Peralta will continue starting at third base and work to transition from his normal role at shortstop, Rick Hummel of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
EDGE Analysis
With rookie shortstop Aledmys Diaz continuing a spectacular rookie campaign, the Cardinals plan to give Peralta more starts at third base as the season carries on. Peralta, who's gone 8-for-24 with two doubles and a home run since returning from a thumb injury, has said that a move to third base seemed inevitable to prolong his career. Because of Diaz's contributions at shortstop, the timing is perfect for Peralta to get more reps at the hot corner while bringing his power to the Cardinals' lineup.
