Outman (shoulder) will begin the season on the disabled list, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports. James Russell was released late last month and with Outman nursing the shoulder injury, Luis Avilan appears primed to open the year as the Braves' top lefty out of the bullpen. Outman posted a 2.86 ERA in 40 appearances last year despite a 5.1 BB/9, but was knocked around for six runs in 6.2 innings this spring.
