Hicks unsurprisingly passed through waivers unclaimed after being designated for assignment by the Yankees last weekend. The 33-year-old outfielder is still owed around $27.6 million on a contract that runs through 2025, but New York will be on the hook for the large majority of that guaranteed cash. Another team can take a chance on him at the MLB minimum.
