Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe reports that the Rays have "sniffed around" on Ramon Hernandez. The Rays could certainly use an upgrade behind the plate, though Hernandez is owed $3.2 million next season and is batting just .200/.244/.348 during an injury-shortened 2012 campaign. The Mets and Nationals have also shown interest in the veteran backstop.
