Murphy's 2016 option was declined Wednesday, ESPN's Buster Olney reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Angels declined Murphy's $7 million dollar option making the 34-year-old outfielder a free agent this offseason. Considering his success this season (.283/.318/.421 with 10 home runs and 50 RBI in 361 at-bats) Murphy likely priced himself out of a return with the Angels, but he could a useful platoon option for a team looking for some power against right-handed pitching (he recorded just 23 at-bats against southpaws this season).
