Mijares was released from the Reds on Monday. Mijares signed a minor league contract with the club in December, but was viewed as a long shot to crack the big league roster from the beginning. The lefty last appeared in the majors in 2013, posting a 4.22 ERA in 60 outings and will likely begin the season in the minors wherever he signs next.
