Mijares signed a minor league contract with the Reds on Friday that includes an invite to spring training, according to his agent Felix Olivo. Mijares received a big-league invite to spring training from the Red Sox last year, but he fell out of the running for a bullpen spot with several poor showings during Grapefruit League play and opted out of his deal. He did not end up returning to active competition over the remainder of the year, but Mijares will get an opportunity to compete for a specialist role with Cincinnati in the spring. Considering he's held opposing lefties to a .225/.288/.335 batting line in his career, it's certainly possible he could earn a job.
