Matt Diaz has announced his retirement from baseball. Diaz revealed the news on his blog, saying that he's "not been as driven" as he has been in the past and is "ready to be daddy." Known for his ability to mash left-handers, Diaz finishes his career with a .322/.363/.495 batting line versus southpaws. He really hadn't hit much against lefties or righties in recent years, though, and is ready to hang up his cleats a month shy of his 36th birthday.
