Marlins signed OF Matt Diaz to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training. Diaz was released by the Yankees last week, but it didn't take him long to find a job. Though he hasn't fared as well against them in recent seasons, Diaz is a career .324/.364/.498 hitter against left-hander pitching and could eventually wind up in a platoon with Juan Pierre in left field.
