Marlins signed 1B Garrett Jones to a two-year, $7.5 million contract. The contract was agreed to on Monday and then finalized Tuesday after Jones passed his pre-signing physical. The 32-year-old batted just .233 with a .289 on-base percentage in 2013 for the Pirates, but he has some power and fares pretty well against right-handed pitching. Miami will presumably use him in a first base platoon.
