Ruiz has been splitting time behind the plate with Cameron Rupp, who has been seeing the majority of the playing time. He has hit for a better average than Rupp, and has three homers to Rupp's one. Ruiz is unlikely to see regular playing time as Mackanin believes he needs to keep him fresh with days off, but the time share behind the plate could become more evenly split if Rupp doesn't get his bat going.
