Lutz was optioned to Triple-A Louisville on Monday. Lutz has struggled in his limited major league action thus far, slashing .176/.222/.255 in 28 games with the big league club last season. The 26-year-old was seen as a potential candidate to fill in as an extra outfielder, but will probably benefit more from getting regular at bats in the minors rather than occupy a bench spot in the majors.
