Lawrie was released by the White Sox on Friday, Jerry Crasnick of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
The long promising but erratic 27-year-old managed a .248/.310/.413 line with 12 home runs, 36 RBI, 35 runs scored and seven stolen bases in 351 at-bats for the Pale Hose last year. Lawrie could latch on with another club looking for an infielder, so don't write him off for deep-league fantasy purposes yet. His departure opens up a door for super prospect Yoan Moncada to win the starting second base job in camp, but a less inspiring option like Tyler Saladino or someone else could fill the gap until the organization decides Moncada is ready.
