Lackey (4-5) allowed five runs on six hits and four walks while striking out five batters over five innings during Saturday's loss to the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran has now allowed 13 runs -- including five home runs -- through his past 15.1 innings. Lackey sports a 5.18 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 2.0 HR/9, which limits the value of his 9.4 K/9. His 21.0 HR/FB rate is probably eyeing positive regression, but Lackey's 5.02 FIP is another discouraging mark. It isn't out of the question to fade him outside of favorable matchups until he shows signs of turning his season around, and there is no guarantee that happens. Lackey lines up to face the Cardinals at Wrigley Field for his next start.
