Josh Beckett said he'll undergo season-ending surgery if rest and rehab for a nerve issue in his pitching arm doesn't work. The right-hander noted that he's "absolutely" confident he'll pitch this season, but there's a level of uncertainty involved. He'll be shut down for the next four weeks before trying to throw again. If Beckett does ultimately need an operation, he expects to be ready for next season.
