Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that the Mets are viewing Scott Hairston as a "fallback option." Heyman says the Mets will "move" on Hairston "if they can't get a bigger name." It's surprising given that they haven't really been involved with higher profile names other than Justin Upton and Jason Kubel, and their potential interest in them seemed to fade quickly. The Yankees are also interested in Hairston, but reportedly are "pessimistic" about signing him.
