Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports the Mets released Kyle Farnsworth. It's a curious move, given that Farnsworth saved a game as recently as Monday for the Mets. The right-hander had a 3.18 ERA and 1.41 WHIP in 17 innings of work, but his effectiveness had tailed off in recent weeks after a hot start. Given that he's had some success this season, the 38-year-old likely won't be out of a job for too long.
