Chirinos (oblique) signed a one-year, $900,000 deal with the Orioles on Saturday, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Chirinos hit the injured list with an oblique strain at the tail end of last season, but it should become clear once he reports to camp whether or not the injury is still bothering him. He's seemingly merely keeping the seat warm for Adley Rutschman until the 2019 first-overall pick makes his debut, which is expected to come very early in the season if not on Opening Day. He'll be a high-end backup once Rutschman arrives, as he owns a slightly above-average 102 wRC+ for his career.
