Jason Kubel (quad) was the designated hitter during an extended spring training game on Thursday. It's his first game action since he landed on the DL on April 13 with a strained left quad. When he'll be allowed to play the outfield isn't clear, but Kubel isn't far away from rejoining the D'Backs lineup.
