Izturis (groin) will begin the season on the disabled list, Barry Davis of SportsNet reports. Izturis was shut down earlier in the week with a strained right groin, and manager John Gibbons officially confirmed Thursday that the second baseman will begin the year on the DL. That means Devon Travis, Ryan Goins or Steve Tolleson will likely get the nod at second base. Izturis is without a firm timeline right now, but he doesn't figure to miss extended time beyond the first few weeks of the season.
