Herrmann signed a minor league contract with the Angels that includes an invite to spring training, the Los Angeles Times reports. Like many pitchers coming off Tommy John surgery, Herrmann struggled to regain his control last season, posting a 5.8 BB/9 in 29.2 innings out of the bullpen at Triple-A Columbus last season. Home runs were also an issue (1.8 HR/9), and have been throughout his career, so Herrmann will have to show significant improvement in spring training to have any chance to break camp with the big club.
