Harrell will join the Rangers on Friday, Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Nick Martinez was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday, freeing up a spot in the starting rotation for Harrell, who was acquired via trade with the Braves on Wednesday. Harrell struggled earlier in his career while in the American League, going 7-20 with an even 6.00 ERA in 50 appearances, but he posted a 3.38 ERA over five starts for Atlanta (3.69 FIP). He is penciled in to make his Rangers debut Sunday against the Royals.
