Guthrie was solid for the second straight start Sunday against the Rangers, allowing two runs through 6.1 innings with five strikeouts and two walks. He did not factor into the decision. The veteran pitched well enough to win, but the bullpen allowed the Rangers to tie the game in the seventh before the Royals answered in the bottom of the eighth. Guthrie has apparently put the one-inning, 11 run demolition at the hands of the Yankees behind him, and has actually allowed two runs or fewer in five of his last six starts. He is next scheduled to face the Cardinals in St. Louis.
