Gordon is out of the lineup Sunday against the Twins, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gordon will be on the bench for a fourth time in five games, an indication that manager Ned Yost is no longer viewing the veteran as the primary option in left field. Though he brings plenty of defensive value, Gordon's .197/.281/.283 slash line on the season has made him one of the least-productive everyday players in baseball, and it appears the Royals could be inclined to kick the tires with other options as they look to chase down a playoff berth. Jorge Bonifacio and Paolo Orlando would probably be the main beneficiaries if Gordon's phaseout continues.
