Giants sent LHP Jose Mijares outright to Triple-A Fresno. Mijares elected free agency and is now eligible to sign elsewhere. The Giants needed to open space on the 40-man roster to accommodate Javier Lopez, who re-signed for three more years on Tuesday. Mijares struggled mightily in 2013, posting a 4.22 ERA and 1.78 WHIP over 49 innings. The left-handed specialist, however, entered last season with a 3.00 ERA over 264 career appearances.
