Giants' general manager, Bobby Evans, announced that Lincecum (hip) will miss the remainder of the season, CSN Bay Area reports.

Lincecum went to see a hip specialist in Colorado who recommended surgery for his ailing hip. Initially it seemed like the Giants placed Lincecum on the disabled list in order to give him a break from the rotation instead of sending him to the minors. Whether or not that is true, Lincecum ended up developing a degenerative hip issue and will miss the rest of the season.
