General manager Sandy Alderson said Wright (shoulder) has yet to begin baseball activity, Matt Ehalt of The Bergen Record reports.
EDGE Analysis
While Wright is determined to make it back to the field in 2018, this is pretty discouraging news with spring training rapidly approaching. Since being diagnosed with spinal stenosis in 2015, the 35-year-old has appeared in just 75 games -- with none coming in 2017 -- and undergone multiple surgeries to address issues with his back, neck and shoulder. The Mets are expected to assess him when he arrives in St. Lucie around the start of February, and his status should hopefully clear up shortly thereafter.

David,

Enough, bro. Just stop. I think your body said, stop, years ago.

Yeah I doubt he'll make it back, but you have to respect his will to keep trying. He could just walk away and still get all the money he's owed but he's still fighting to get back. I hope he makes it somehow.

Class act guy, its a shame to see his career is probably over.

Probably over? Haha. I am a huge Mets fan. I love David, but this is a joke. Give him a parade and a front office job already. His back is held together with silly puddy and toothpicks.

Hey, the players I respect the most are the ones that have "I then I played in Japan for a year" in their story. David Wright should kick the ass off of all of Nippon's opponents!
