Gallardo will operate as a long reliever out of the Mariners' bullpen moving forward, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Recently recalled pitching prospect Andrew Moore will take Gallardo's turn in the rotation Wednesday, though it's unclear if he'll continue to do so after that. Gallardo has struggled as a starter this season, notching just four quality starts in 14 tries and compiling a 6.30 ERA and 57:32 K:BB across 75.2 innings. The 31-year-old hasn't appeared out of the bullpen since his rookie season with the Brewers, when he notched a 2.89 ERA across 9.1 innings (three appearances).
