Frieri was designated for assignment Tuesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Frieri's pre-2013 track record could lead to some interest around the league, but he's struggled with walks and home runs for the last three seasons, and he hasn't even been striking out many batters this year. He has a 4.63 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 19:11 K:BB ratio through 23.1 innings, with six home runs allowed.
