Fien was designated for assignment by the Mariners on Tuesday, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports.

This is the second time Fien has been DFA'd by the Mariners this season after struggling mightily during both of his major-league stints. The 33-year-old allowed a combined 10 runs through six innings during both stints before the Mariners decided to give his roster spot to veteran reliever Jean Machi. He'll likely clear waivers again and be outrighted to Triple-A Tacoma.
