Fernandez gave up five runs on five hits over 5.2 innings in a loss to the Tigers on Wednesday, but struck out 13 and only walked one batter.
EDGE Analysis
The home loss was Fernandez's first in 27 career starts at Marlins Park. Former teammate Jarrod Saltalamacchia did most of the damage, as he hit a two-run home run in the second inning and followed it up with a two-run double in the top of the sixth. Fernandez still piled up the strikeouts, fanning seven batters via the curveball and falling just one strikeout shy of matching a career high.
