Fernandez (elbow) made his second rehab appearance at High-A Jupiter on Friday, tossing five scoreless innings. After getting knocked around for five runs last weekend in his first outing at Jupiter, Fernandez was spectacular this time around. He needed just 65 pitches to navigate through five innings, conceding only two singles and a walk while striking out four batters. Fernandez's fastball consistently sat in the 94 to 98 mile per hour range Friday, right in line with his pre-surgery velocity. He's set to increase his pitch count to 80 in his next turn with Jupiter on Wednesday, before making two more rehab outings after that to close out June. Fernandez is tentatively on track to return to the Marlins for a July 2 start against the Giants, though that timeline is far from set in stone.
