Fernandez (biceps) said he expects to rejoin the Marlins' rotation for a start Saturday against the Nationals, Harvey Fialkov of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.
EDGE Analysis
Fernandez tossed a 75-pitch simulated game Monday and indicated he felt great afterward, with his strained right biceps no longer proving problematic. He still has to get through a bullpen session scheduled for later this week, but assuming that goes well, it appears the Marlins plan on having back on the mound for the big club over the weekend rather than sending him out on a rehab assignment. Fernandez looked strong in his seven starts coming back from Tommy John surgery before the biceps strain took effect, going 4-0 with a 2.30 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, and a 53:10 K:BB ratio over 43 innings.
