Gonzalez told Marly Rivera of ESPN.com on Tuesday that he was notified by Yankees manager Aaron Boone of his addition to the Opening Day roster.
EDGE Analysis
The move isn't yet official, and the Yankees will need to clear a spot for Gonzalez on the 40-man roster if his addition does indeed move forward. The veteran figures to add a super-utility presence to the club's roster, as he is capable of playing all over the infield and in both corner outfield spots. Gonzalez was one of the team's top hitters this spring, slashing .375/.400/.792 with three home runs, 10 RBI and five runs across 23 plate appearances.
