Eric Chavez has re-signed with the Diamondbacks, according to CBS Sports' Jon Heyman. The 36-year-old, given up for dead years ago, has revitalized his career over the past two seasons with the Diamondbacks and Yankees. Since 2012, he's slashed 281/.341/.488 with 25 homers in 567 plate appearances. Chavez attracted league-wide interest on the open market, but he preferred to stay close to his Phoenix home. He'll back up both corner infield spots in 2014.
