Doubront (elbow) began a throwing program Wednesday, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports.

The 28-year-old underwent Tommy John surgery earlier this season, so it's an encouraging sign for his progress that he's begun a throwing program before the end of the summer. The timeline hasn't changed for Doubront per se and he won't be back on a mound again until 2017, but for him to be at the sock toss portion of the throwing program already at this point in his recovery is a positive. If he continues to progress at this rate, Doubront could be back before June of next season.
