Diamondbacks released RHP Juan Gutierrez. Gutierrez underwent Tommy John surgery last month, and evidently the D'Backs didn't want to wait until 2013, when he will likely be ready to contribute again. The 28-year-old right-hander holds a career 4.79 ERA and 1.42 WHIP, but also an 8.2 K/9 rate. As a hard-thrower that won't hit free agency until 2015, some other team will give him a shot.
