Diamond finished up the 2016 International League season with a 9-15 record, 4.50 ERA and 1.34 WHIP over 28 starts for Triple-A Buffalo.
EDGE Analysis
Diamond, who started 58 games for the Twins from 2011-2013, made just one major league appearance this season for the Jays -- his first MLB appearance since 2013. There were whispers that the 30-year-old could contribute at some point during the year to the big league squad, but that wound up to be far from the truth. The fact that the team didn't even add Diamond to the 40-man roster says something about where the southpaw stands with the organization, especially considering the Jays have the room available and a ton of games against left-handed hitters down the stretch.
