Cuddyer (back) is retiring from baseball, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports.
EDGE Analysis
Rather than play out the final season of his two-year pact with New York, and possibly serving as more of a veteran presence than anything with Michael Conforto in left field, Cuddyer has decided to step away after 14 major-league seasons. Cuddyer played 117 games for the Mets in 2015, but battled a variety of injuries en route to a .259/.309/.391 slash line. The 36-year-old won a batting title in 2013 as a member of the Rockies and made two All-Star teams.
