Cubs signed OF Casper Wells to a minor league contract. He'll presumably receive an invitation to major league spring training. The 28-year-old played for three different teams in 2013, slashing a meager .126/.186/.147 in just 102 plate appearances. He could compete for a reserve outfielder role with the Cubs, or as a platoon option against southpaws.
