The Chicago Cubs announced in a tweet on Monday that the team "granted OF Jason Heyward his unconditional release." Heyward has been with the Cubs since the 2016 season. Most recently, he hit .204 with a .278 on-base percentage, a home run and a stolen base in 151 plate appearances during the 2022 season. As of now, the Cubs' current 40-man outfield options include the likes of Ian Happ, Christopher Morel, Seiya Suzuki, Rafael Ortega, Nelson Velazquez, and Alexander Canario.
