Casper Wells was a late scratch from Saturday's starting lineup due to a stiff neck. Eric Thames will replace him in left field and hit eighth in the Mariners' lineup. Wells hasn't started a game since September 9 and is hitting a disappointing .222/.287/.381 with eight homers and 29 RBI on the season.
