Casper Wells homered to supply two of the Mariners' three runs in Friday's loss to the Padres. The Mariners have Michael Morse penciled in as the everyday left fielder, making Wells' role unclear at the moment. He certainly deserves to start against left-handers, but as is, the only way that will happen is if the Mariners opt to drop Michael Saunders into a platoon role. The problem there is that Saunders had a reverse split last year, hitting .261/.307/.467 against lefties. A trade for Wells might be a possibility.
