Cain (3-4) gave up three runs (two earned) on eight hits while striking out three over five innings in a 3-1 loss to the Nationals on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran pitched out of trouble all night, stranding five Nationals in scoring position through five frames. This was the fourth time in five starts where Cain surrendered two earned runs or less, but the Giants' struggling offense has only provided him with one win over that span. The 32-year-old's 4.37 ERA is a marked improvement over last year's 5.64 ERA, but his career-low 1.5 K/BB ratio makes the righty a high-risk, low-upside fantasy option.
