Burto (back) was unconditionally released by the Yankees on Thursday, Joel Sherman of MLB Network reports. The veteran, who was battling a strained lat, did not show enough during spring training to earn a spot on the roster, let alone in the organization. The 33-year-old will look to catch on with another team after making 68 appearances for the Twins in 2014.
