Buchholz (6-10) allowed just one run on eight hits and struck out six over 6.2 innings in a win Tuesday over the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
Buchholz's continues to pitch well in fill-in duty, and this excellent outing will do wonders for Red Sox fans' confidence in him should Steven Wright's shoulder injury keep him out of action. In three starts since Buchholz lost his regular rotation spot July 2, he has allowed just three runs with an 18:2 K:BB over 19 innings. His ERA is still an ugly 4.99, but in this form he could be worth a gamble for teams looking for a spark plug to a late run for glory.
